One of my favorite SharePoint Online features is the document library action bar:
The action bar makes our lives so much easier because key features, such as share or edit, are just one mouse click away. I use this on a daily basis! The manage action is especially awesome:
It saves you a trip to the ribbon. There are still many business users out there who aren’t familiar with the ribbon. The action bar is a lot easier for them because it’s visible and not ‘hidden'. Unfortunately, the manage action often isn’t available when a document library is added as web part to a SharePoint site:
No worries! It’s actually very easy to retrieve the manage action and also bring back the Search bar. Back home we call this: Hitting two flies with one hit ;-) Just follow my lead.
1. Click on Site Actions
and Edit Page
to open the edit mode of the site
2. Open the web part properties of the document library
3. Click on Miscellaneous
4. Tick the ‘Display search box’ and click OK
There she is:
Some SharePoint Online tenants don’t have this problem and display the manage action by default. You are now able to restore it yourself.
