I’ll be presenting a full-day workshop entitled “BUILDING APPLICATIONS FOR OFFICE 365 AND SHAREPOINT WITH ANGULAR 2 AND ASP.NET 5” April 18, 2016 at the DevIntersection conference in Orlando, FL. This will be a hard-core, leading edge workshop for developers who want to see the future of SharePoint and Office development.

This is a great way to learn about ECMAScript 6, TypeScript, Angular 2, Node, and ASP.NET 5 from an Office and SharePoint developer’s perspective. And yes, the techniques will work for both on-premises and online SharePoint development. If you’re trying to decide, here’s some more detail about the day:

Enterprise JavaScript

I’ll start the morning focused on what you need to know to be successful writing enterprise JavaScript for Office and SharePoint. I’ll present the key ECMAScript 6 concepts and code that will form the future of JavaScript. Then, I’ll present detailed information about ECMAScript 6 JavaScript modules and dynamic loading. Demos will include JavaScript classes and modules.

Next, I’ll dive into TypeScript and present the fundamentals you need to know to be successful with Angular 2. I’ll show you the basics of typing, classes, and modules. Then I’ll focus on dynamic module loading with TypeScript. Demos will include TypeScript classes and modules.

Angular 2

While there isn’t enough time in the workshop to cover the entire Angular 2 framework, I’ll concentrate on the fundamentals and techniques to jumpstart your development. I’ll cover the basics of modules, barrels, components, directives, templates, binding, and dependency injection. After that, I’ll cover Observables and services in detail. Demos include creating components, user interfaces, and services.

Azure Active Directory

Once I’ve presented the approach for development, I’ll move on to security and identity management. Here, I’ll focus on registering applications, OAuth 2, and OpenID Connect. Demos include the development of full end-to-end solutions for Office and SharePoint. I’ll cover SharePoint add-ins, Office add-ins, and Azure applications.

Overall, this is going to be a full, intense day for SharePoint and Office developers. You can expect to leave the workshop ready to begin developing with Angular 2 against Office and SharePoint both on-premises and in the cloud.
