Two weeks ago, I announced my new role as Director of Product Marketing for SharePoint at Microsoft. I promised that we would have equally exciting news for IT Unity, and today I’m thrilled to announce that IT Unity and our UK partner, NC Communications, are being acquired by Blue Whale Web.
Blue Whale Web is best known for its two flagship websites: the Petri IT Knowledgebase and Thurrott.com. Together with IT Unity, the three sites offer an incredibly broad range of content—breaking news and analysis, in-depth technical articles, and a comprehensive how-to knowledgebase—reaching hundreds of millions of IT professionals, developers, technology enthusiasts, and business users of Windows, Azure, PowerShell, SharePoint, Office 365, and more.
But, together, the companies are more than just websites. NC Communications produces the leading SharePoint and Office 365 conference in Europe, Unity Connect, which is the first major, independent event in Europe to cover all of Office 365, including Exchange, Skype and Yammer, as well as Azure. NC Communications and IT Unity are also joined by partners to produce SEF Unity Connect and DEVintersection Europe.
In addition to live, in-person events, IT Unity will continue to produce Unity Connect Online, the leading global online conference for Microsoft technologies, along with regular webinars and web shows.
By becoming part of Blue Whale Web, IT Unity accelerates our vision of unifying the IT community across technologies and audiences, so that you can solve your business problems with technology, regardless of your role, and with all of the technologies you use.
I couldn’t be more proud of the entire team at IT Unity and NC Communications, and of our extended family of authors, speakers, sponsors, and supporters. I’m excited to see just what can be achieved with Blue Whale Web’s team, including my long-time friend and colleague Paul Thurrott, and Blue Whale Web’s exceptional leader, George Coll. As I transition to Microsoft to help lead an exciting future for SharePoint and Office 365, I cannot imagine a better team to carry forward the vision and the effort we started together. Best wishes to you all!
And to you, our readers, followers, event attendees, and delegates, I know you’ll love what’s coming from this powerful effort of like-minded, community-focused companies. I’ll look forward to seeing you at some of IT Unity’s events in the future.
